Well here we are with a New Year and here’s hoping every one had a good one and escaped the dreaded “Flu Bug”. No comments ref no food.

Our first Social in January saw 32 in attendance with a quiz by Barry and the spoils going to Ann Wendy, Sylvia and Eileen ably assisted by Sarah, and big thanks to Sarah for her donation of 4 bottles of wine for the quiz prize.

The new RAFALO’s Rollover run by Sarah was a great idea, thanks to Sarah and Danny’s efforts in setting it all up.  It wasn’t won so the Rollover is €35 for February. I think all in all a good evening and departing at 10.15 pm.

February’s Social everyone seemed to be in a boisterous mood and having a fun evening with the “Ole” bingo hosted by Lorri and Paul and not forgetting Eddie doing the finances and checking.  It was disappointing to say the least that the St Valentines Dance had to be cancelled due to lack of interest and the change of policy of the Arsinoe Hotel after all the hard work done by those concerned.

On the 8^th February only 6 members attended the ATC’s Enrolment Service at St Paul’s Church,  RAF Akrotiri  which gave us the opportunity to meet the new Commander British Forces, Major General  J H Gordon C.B.E.

AGM  March 4^th.  First of all a big thank you to our President, Gp Capt J Bessell for taking time out to from a very busy schedule to attend our AGM with his address enlightening us on the future of RAF Akrotiri . A very enjoyable Quiz compiled by Barry again (with his KEO wit). I will try to keep it short and sweet but again a big THANK YOU to you all for supporting RAFA over the last 12 months, and not forgetting the Committee for their hard work. I think the newly formed Entertainment Committee are doing a good job not an easy task to follow Sandy but getting there. Many thanks to Sandy for her hard work over the last 13 years also to Mr Gordon Milton for his services as he has now stood down from the Vice Chairman position, which is now taken over by Mr Bill Cundall. That seems to be all for now. Lets hope we have as good a year in 2009
